Kraken (2026)

 

I was so looking forward to this, I love monster movies, so I eagerly awaited some creature feature candy...what a let down. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad movie, just not very good! The premise is good, strange things are afoot in a Norwegian fjord including the grisly death of two teenagers, all signs point to a mythical creature deep in the water. The acting all round is high quality, the plot builds perfectly, the scenery is just stunning, it's just this film doesn't combine all these elements. It's low budget, so the beast is pretty much just rubber tentacles flailing about, no real monster "action", no tension, and by the end it's a case of "meh, is that it?"
