I'm shocked and disappointed with myself that until last week I'd never even heard of this film until it was recommended by a youtuber a few weeks ago. The biggest surprise is that it's directed by the much respected Barry Levinson who has made some absolute bangers in the past few decades, 'Diner' and 'Tin Men' are two of my all time favourite movies, and he followed these up with such classics as 'Sleepers', 'Rain Man' and 'Good Morning Vietnam' !! This is is first foray into the horror "genre", but yes there are horror moments (and they are well gruesome) but this much more to this movie. It's a found footage style documentary loosely based on true events in the USA when a virus breaks out in the small town of Chesapeake Bay. A mix of grainy footage, interviews and striking moments of gore, this is quality film making as you would hope to get from such an auteur as Levinson and well worth a watch.
4.5/5
