28 Years Later (2025)

 

Now this is embarrassing. I actually included this movie in my disappointing movies of 2025 post last month but did mention I might have had a memory lapse or dare I say, "brain fart" as to the actual movie, so with the impending '29 Years Later: The Bone Temple' due this week and with great early reviews I though I must give it a "rewatch", so has my opinion changed?

Yep.

Many years ago I watch one of the much anticipated 'Avengers' movies, I think it was 'Endgame', watched it ( I thought) nope, yes what must have been the first 20 minutes, snoozed off, then saw the finale thinking well that was piss poor, after a rewatch, realized the brain had 2 hours off! This is the same, a rewatch, not late evening, mid afternoon, concentration set to max and boy it delivers. No, its a different beat from it's two incredible prequels, but this is still class horror film making, much more of a slow burner, when the violence kicks off it's extreme, but this is more about the horror the  characters are facing in this Zombie apocalypse. The acting is first class, as is the cast, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the wonderful Jodie Comer with a powerhouse performance and of course, Ralph Fiennes.

Next stop- '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple', can't frickin' wait!
