Chris (Steve Oram) takes his new girlfriend Tina (Alice Lowe) on a caravanning holiday of the Lake District taking in all it's beautiful sights such as the Ribblehead Viaduct, Lake Windermere and umm The Keswick Pencil Museum. What Tina doesn't realise is that Chris is well..psychotic, and soon the holiday becomes a tale of murdering litter bugs and Daily Mail readers...
Directed by Ben Wheatley who's previous outing was another tale of murder, the grim, dark "Kill List", this is a different beast though, written by Oram and Lowe, this is a brilliantly black Brit comedy, up there with "Shaun Of The Dead" and "Hot Fuzz", as British as fish and chips, with some of the funniest on screen dialogue for some time "He's not a person he's a Daily Mail reader!!"
One of the movies of that year, and one I instantly purchased on Blu-ray back in the day, remember those things? well worth it for an excellent 35 minute making of documentary.
4.5/5
